That person used a willow. (He didn't believe it either but the cost was thousands each time- he got a good laugh but couldn't dispute the results) Perhaps it's magnetic, I don't know but sometimes folk methods are found to have merit after we've laughed at them for decades. For instance, the Israelis are using leeches to save fingers that were blown almost to hamburger, and in India they had a cure for leprosy, but the english doctors laughed it off like they were fools.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-7293983158665687042011-07-18T03:28:33.452-04:002011-07-18T03:28:33.452-04:00i am amazed with thouse person who have great perc...i am amazed with thouse person who have great perception and intuitions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-45445018459840116062011-07-04T20:08:08.898-04:002011-07-04T20:08:08.898-04:00I saw someone post on a forum that they didn't...I saw someone post on a forum that they didn't like the idea of linking their personal bank account to bitcoins. But that's not actually what's going on. In actuality, you're placing an intermediary account (Dwolla) between your personal account and MtGox. And MtGox is the only account you're using for bitcoins.

If you're worried about bitcoin security, then it should be from holding some bitcoin sum at MtGox. There are some delays for processing, but they're at the Dwolla step. You can minimize the amount of time you hold actual bitcoins with MtGox to mere minutes.

Perhaps here's a better visualization:

Your personal account (Dollars) --> Dwolla (Dollars) --> MtGox (Dollars/BitCoin) --> MyBitCoin (BitCoin) --> WikiLeaks (BitCoin)

And you can even skip the MyBitCoin step (4B from above) and go right from MtGox --> WikiLeaks if you like (4A from above).InfoHedonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09726727144730953980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-57542364542379778512010-11-15T18:22:41.917-05:002010-11-15T18:22:41.917-05:00Thanks for following up on this line of questionin...Thanks for following up on this line of questioning over at anewkindofparty.

I think 3 is actually not bad, so long as it's 3-seated Hare LR, which is biased in favor of the bigger smaller parties.

I think that we need to focus more on moving from what is the case in our political system and less on the ways it ideally should work...

dlwDLWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17709279441985086959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-86186888089599630432010-08-05T15:28:29.485-04:002010-08-05T15:28:29.485-04:00This essay was about single-seat election systems....This essay was about single-seat election systems. You're referring to multi-seat election systems. Proportional/multi-seat systems are referenced here to demonstrate IRV as a failed tactic for reform.

I'm sure I'll do a post on multi-seat systems in the future. But you should know that as a general rule, the fewer seats you're voting on, the less proportional the outcome will be. David Farrell in his book Electoral Systems suggested this number should be at least five. In most systems, this gives a threshold of about 17%. Suggesting districts of three would lead to more proportional outcomes, but it's a bit too small. Though this is what Illinois did when it used a cumulative voting system.

It is my opinion that any time one can make a position multi-seat, they should so that proportional methods can be used. Single seat elections should be used as sparingly as possible for seats such as president, governor, mayor, et cetera. Minus some anomalous consensus, single-seat positions will ignore much of the voters. And by the way collective decisions are done in government with legislation, single-seat elections should not be trivial.InfoHedonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09726727144730953980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-48539899983567461732010-07-26T14:46:08.640-04:002010-07-26T14:46:08.640-04:00No comments on the dialogue between me and BL?
I ...No comments on the dialogue between me and BL?

I agree wholly with the view that the lack of satisfactory choices in the US is due to our election rules and that fairvote's IRV3 is unlikely to change that adequately.

But I believe that a mix of 3-seated American Proportional Representation and some form of single-seated elections(I 'm less picky about single-seated elections) in city council or AmPR in state house and single-seated in state senate wd change our political dynamics signicantly, even if the system still tended to have two major parties.

The point is that they'd be two rather different major parties as a result of local third party options and their inabiility to dominate a state's political system.

dlwDLWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17709279441985086959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-51078433228964214992010-05-25T15:53:15.782-04:002010-05-25T15:53:15.782-04:00Very informative article, and well-writtenVery informative article, and well-writtennothingprofoundhttp://wwwaphorismscom.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-42019589722963149262010-05-22T14:08:29.002-04:002010-05-22T14:08:29.002-04:00I've checked and did not see the original grou...I've checked and did not see the original group back up. They had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Had never heard of it before. So I put it into perspective for them. I said "Imagine if you sent your child off to a University and then one day Got the news that your child was shot dead by our National Guard all because our own government had primed them into Believing that these anti-war protesting students were a serious risk to national security"

Their eyes went wide as it sank in. Then I said "This really did happen 40 years ago in this country" One of the students killed was simply walking to her next class. Several of the wounded were bystanders. The young parents I spoke with learned something today. I cannot believe this could be forgotten. Convinces me that this needs to be told again and again. Thanks for your post. Here's what I put together, hope you get a chance to see it.

In remembrance of the four students who died on May 4th, 1970 at Kent State University. Shot down by the National Guard.
A very dark day in American history and a tragedy that did not have to happen and let's hope will never happen again.
9 more students were wounded that day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwZNLdi-L8wGilliamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17723842352541638167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787005063177987331.post-2015032167032833022010-05-05T15:02:57.341-04:002010-05-05T15:02:57.341-04:00Great stuff, Aaron.
